Living it - Not Just Teaching it…
As a Meditation and Breathwork Guide, good posture has always been in my subconscious...
Core strength, flexibility and strong knees is something I realise I’ve take for granted. But now, as a midlife woman - living in the same, but constantly changing body, I find I’m having to consciously remind myself to straighten my back, stand properly at the sink and that using my body as a prop - opening doors with my knee because my hands are full, or those swift moves I could make 10 years ago need to be slower and smoother, so I don’t shift anything out of alignment. My midlife body has been speaking to me a lot recently - telling me I need to strengthen my core, correct my posture and that I need to look after my knees!!!
I was first introduced to Pilates in 2019 and loved the gentle way made it made me stronger, without the intensity and that goldfish in a bowl feeling I always got from going to the gym. I’ve practiced at home, in studios, tried mat and reformer, but never practiced consistently. The pandemic meant a sudden break and threw my routine out of the window and so relationship with Pilates was on and off - until this year and those ‘twinges’ first started speaking to me. I live an active life and as an avid walker, moving, staying flexible and capable in my body for the decades ahead is really important to me. Strength and mobility don't happen by accident in midlife - they take intention. This year, I found my way back to pilates - practicing at home, then joining a regular weekly class and listening to the voice in my head, telling me to do some research, find a reputable course and share the amazing benefits of Pilates with you.
Pilates Guide in Training
I’m now training for my Level 3 Diploma in Mat Pilates and will be launching my Body & Breath Pilates Classes, exclusively for midlife women across London in Spring 2027. I'm not doing this training so I can recite cues or moves I've memorised. I'm doing it because I know there are other women who like me, who are getting older and wiser when it comes to their wellness. I’m working on my own core strength, my own knees - in real time and I’m inviting you to do it alongside me.
Head Shoulder Knees & Pose Method ©
Created specifically with midlife women in mind - the class uses my Head, Shoulders Knees & Pose Method. Instead of each modality living in separate boxes, it blends Pilates with Meditation, Breathwork, scent and sound, to still the mind, balance, soften and strengthen the body and improve posture.
Follow My Journey
Consider this an open invitation to follow my journey. I'll be sharing my wins, wobbly moments, the ‘‘I really felt that’s’’ and the ‘‘I forgot that muscle existed’’ moments - all of it. Because if I'm asking other midlife women to strengthen their bodies and trust the process, the least I can do is let you watch me as I do the same.
